Let the artistic flair in your child shine at Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2017’s Lantern Painting Competition! We invite families and children of all ages to join in this fun-filled competition where you can display your creativity in painting lanterns. Let Lanterns Be The Canvass For Your Inspiration!
Who Can Join?
Group A – Age 6 years old and below
Group B – Age 7 to 9 years old
Group C – Age 10 to 12 years old
Group D – Age 13 to 16 years old

3 Winners for each category – A Trophy + $300, $200 & $100 cash prize

This event is sponsored by Singapore Turf Club, the competition is organised by Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee (KA-KSCCC) and co-organised by Life Art Society.

The full moon represents an auspicious symbol of abundance, harmony and prosperity. Chinese communities all over the world celebrate its appearance on this important occasion. During the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival, visitors can bask in the festivities, walk along the bustling festive street stalls and shop for festive goodies. Be spoilt for choice as over 300 festival stalls will offer a dazzling variety of festive treats like moon cakes, pomelos, lanterns, handicrafts, tea and more.
Official Light-up and Opening Cerermony

The celebration for Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2017 will kick start with the highly-anticipated Opening Ceremony, which includes the Official Street Light-up, dragon dance performance, as well as an exciting line-up of multicultural song and dance performances by local and overseas troupes from China. Finally, catch the spectacular fireworks displays lined up for the grand finale!

Soak in the festivities and celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinatown, where traditional Chinese culture comes alive. Be enchanted by the flower-themed decorations of Chinatown as New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, South Bridge Road and the inner streets of Chinatown are adorned with colourful lanterns of varying shapes and sizes.
Nightly Stage Shows

Gather around for the nightly performances at Kreta Ayer Square during the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations. Even today, the Square remains a popular gathering point for local Chinese communities. Catch and be entertained by the animated and dynamic Chinese cultural acts, folk songs, and music and dance numbers by local entertainers and troupes from China.
Mass Lantern Walk

Enjoy a fun night out with family and friends with your creative lanterns – or dress up as one! – as you join in the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2016 Mass Lantern Walk that is open to the public. Immerse yourself in the festive spirit as you soak in the leisurely-paced lantern parade procession under the full moon and the dazzling displays around Chinatown. Don’t forget the impressive acts of the dragon dance troupes, energetic cheerleaders and the percussion band along the way! The lantern walk will conclude with stage performances and pyrotechnics display in the heart of Chinatown.
Mid-Autumn Family Fest @ Chinatown

A new highlight this year, the Mid-Autumn Family Fest @ Chinatown will be a melting pot of traditional festive activities such as mooncake-making, calligraphy-writing, tea art appreciation, and lantern painting! It promises to be fun-filled day of bonding and discovery of the meaning and stories behind these traditional activities.
Suitable for all ages, participants who purchase the event ticket at S$5/- can look forward to appreciate and getting Chinese calligraphy, learning how to savour different types of Chinese tea and even bring home luscious treats of their own creation at the snowskin mooncake-making workshops.
Participants who purchased the event ticket will also each receive a goodie bag containing a mooncake mould, ingredients for the mooncake, and lucky draw coupon.
